The 84th Annual Academy Awards aired last night on ABC and I most definitely tuned in. I always keep an eye out for the fashion and the big winners of the night. 'The Artists' won Best Picture along with a handful of other awards. Jean Dujardin won Best Actor for 'The Artist' and Meryl Streep won Best Actress for her unforgettable role in 'Iron Lady.' There were a lot of different looks displayed on the red carpet last night, but I'll only be posting my favorites and the one's that caught my attention.
My absolute favorite of the night was Jennifer Lopez. She is wearing a beautiful gown by Zuhair Murad. I think that she always gets it right on the red carpet. She always knows what looks good on her figure, what hairstyle goes with the look, and what jewelery needs to be paired with it. She and Cameron Diaz presented together last night. Jennifer's dress was slipping off of her breast as she was presenting. I guess she didn't get the double-stick tape memo!
Best Actress nominee Viola Davis looked absolutely stunning in this green strapless number by Vera Wang. The color of the dress looks great against her chocolate skin and I love the fact that she did not wear a wig tonight. She wore her beautiful natural hair. Although she lost to Meryl Streep, her look was one of my favorites that night.
Rooney Mara stood out to me at this particular award ceremony because she has been wearing black this entire award season. I love the fact that she opted for this very girly white gown by Givenchy. She didn't wear any jewelery and she kept her makeup minimal with the exception of the bold lip color.
I normally tend to not like what E! News red carpet correspondent Giuliana Rancic wears during award season, but I really loved this intricate Tony Ward Couture gown that she wore last night. It fit her small frame very well and she had her hair pulled back so we could see her beautiful face. I liked that she kept her makeup minimal and she looked gorgeous.
Milla Jovovich arrived on the red carpet quite early and she looked absolutely sizzling in this one shouldered Elie Saab gown. The gown appears to be quite heavy due to the fact that the entire thing is embroidered with detailed beading. I thought her clutch was too structured for the dress, but I loved her hair and makeup.
Ellie Kemper surprised me with this gown by Armani Prive. She was in the movie 'Bridesmaids' and she has been rather mum on the red carpet this award season. Her looks have been very safe and boring, but the sequins on this dress were too hard to miss. I love how the look is semi-monochromatic because her dress matches her hair color. I also appreciated the fact that all her accessories were gold because they picked up the flecks of gold in her dress.
Octavia Spencer was a big winner last night. She won Best Supporting Actress for her role in 'The Help.' This is a woman who knows how to dress for her curvy body type. Octavia was glowing in this gown by Tadashi Shoji. Her accessories accented her dress perfectly and her hair was gorgeous. Her acceptance speech was very emotional and I am glad that she won. She deserved it!
Gwyneth Paltrow arrived a little late and it started to get a little chilly outside. She was the only one who wore something to keep her warm and I appreciated that she did that. When everyone else was freezing, she was a realist. Gwyneth looks absolutely exquisite in this gown and cape by Tom Ford. I like that she kept her hair pulled back in a loose pony and I loved her silver cuff bracelet.
Hot Couples
The twittersphere went incredibly insane when we all realized that Brad and Angie had not shown up yet. Everyone started to get worried that the duo would not show up. The couple literally stepped onto the red carpet at the last possible second and the paparazzi was able to snap a few pictures of them before heading inside. Brad Pitt looks handsome in a fitted tux by Tom Ford and Angelina Jolie looks radiant in this gown by Atelier Versace. They compliment each other so well and they are a true power couple. Angie's hair and makeup is absolute perfection. I love this hollywood couple.
George Clooney showed up to the Oscar's with his current girlfriend Stacy Keibler and they looked nice. He wore a standard tuxedo by Giorgio Armani and she wore a gown by Marchesa. I wasn't feeling that huge rose on her right hip, but I did like her overall look. I loved her Lorraine Schwartz jewelery and her Judith Leiber clutch. Keibler has been keeping it safe this award season and letting George shine, but she pulled out all the stops for the Academy Awards. They look so striking together.
